UPDATE: We were unable to save the harlequin boy's leg, so he'll be a tripod. The black girl was a mess with some type of bug infestation, tons of gunk in her ears, bites and other issues. 💔 She was cleaned up and treated and will be assessed again in a week. We're hoping some compassionate fosters in a calm household can step up after their quarantine. rabbitats.org/foster

We were about to put out an alert to look for a rabbit with a broken leg spotted in Richmond, but our awesome team found and caught the bunny right away. But with a catch. (Literally). The broken leg harlequin boy was with a badly tilted black girl, so they picked up her as well. We're challenged for vets atm, but they have to get in asap. The head tilt girl is falling over and the boy's foot is broken and floppy at the ankle. Thanks so much to Laura-Leah, Keely, Deanna and Chad for answering the call so quickly, and to Amy for sending in the report. ❤ We really need donations for this one, we've only had $125 in donations come into our Sick Bunny Fund since April 1st! 😮😧 (Our vet bills in that same time frame were over $3500). UPDATE: Neither were pregnant 🥳 and both girls have now been spayed. This, and their demeanors, are sure signs they are dumped pets and not feral strays. (People will often relocated feral rabbits from their properties). These girls will be assessed and recovering for a few weeks before looking for a home. <3
INCOMING❗️ These cuties were spotted at the Richmond Auto Mall last week and finally trapped on Saturday. Back in 2012, Rabbitats' first official project was to clear hundreds of rabbits from that area. We picked up at least 50 rabbits a year, and by late 2016/early 2017 they had all been rounded up and adopted out to homes or transferred to our sanctuaries. We make sure they don't repopulate, so especially when two are spotted in that area, we get right on it. Deanna, with help from Candy and Chad S. set up a trap and an xpen around the trap knowing that as a bonded pair, if one went into the trap, the other would stay close by and she was right. :) Both were caught at once! <3 We're not sure if they're feral rabbits or dumped pets, but they're both girls. We're really really hoping they haven't been around any boys! 🤞 🍀 Wish us luck on that one!
