INCOMING❗️ These cuties were spotted at the Richmond Auto Mall last week and finally trapped on Saturday. Back in 2012, Rabbitats' first official project was to clear hundreds of rabbits from that area. We picked up at least 50 rabbits a year, and by late 2016/early 2017 they had all been rounded up and adopted out to homes or transferred to our sanctuaries. We make sure they don't repopulate, so especially when two are spotted in that area, we get right on it. Deanna, with help from Candy and Chad S. set up a trap and an xpen around the trap knowing that as a bonded pair, if one went into the trap, the other would stay close by and she was right. :) Both were caught at once! <3 We're not sure if they're feral rabbits or dumped pets, but they're both girls. We're really really hoping they haven't been around any boys! 🤞 🍀 Wish us luck on that one! ... See MoreSee Less

Rescuers round up hundreds of feral rabbits at Richmond Auto Mall

The Richmond Auto Mall is pretty much bunny-free for the first time in a long time.
My name is Pumpkin - I was bought on Kijiji with my brother, Jellybean.
My humans thought I was a boy. So they were surprised when I gave birth to my first baby. Then 3 babies the next month. And 8 babies the next.
I had 3 litters by the time I turned 10 months old – we needed help.
I was surrendered to Rabbitats with Jelly and 12 babies. Over the past 3 years, all of my babies have found forever homes. But my brother and I are still looking.
Many foster families have loved us, but no one who could keep us forever.
We are lops, bred for our down-turned ears and cute smushy faces. But that cuteness comes at a price.
I’m prone to sneezing, and have struggled with a respiratory infection. My vet + medical foster have given me the medication I need, but I may always be a bit sneezy.
I need to eat orchard grass, shaken well to get rid of dust. A humidifier keeps me comfortable.
Jellybean has been by my side through it all. He is my best friend in the world. He doesn’t even mind when I steal greens from his mouth.
We’re looking for a family to love us; we’re resilient, but tired of being so brave.
