Our sick bunny fund is in trouble. Trigger warnings - Injured bunnies, injured pets, sick pets
Between the dozens of babies needing spays/neuters, complicated injuries requiring both surgery and extensive aftercare, and rising vaccination costs to protect all of our rabbits from RHDV, our medical fund is running dry.
There are more bunnies in need of immediate help, but we can’t responsibly intake until we’ve raised enough to cover our current medical needs.
This is what just one week of medical care looks like:
One of our rescue bunnies had surgery to remove a very large, encapsulated abscess that required a significant incision. The good - the infection hadn’t spread, and our vet was able to remove it fully and intact. The bad - an expensive surgery with an unknown prognosis. His life is worth all efforts, but without donations, our options become far more limited.
We have at least five bunnies waiting for spays and neuters, with others fast approaching maturity. The faster we can get them fixed, the faster we can send them home.
Riley had a major setback - his infection has returned, and we’re worried for this special little bun. While examining his injuries, part of his upper left jaw and two molars practically fell into our vet’s hand. 😭He received new X-rays to see how his injuries have progressed. No prognosis yet… so please send Riley your best wishes. We love him.
We pulled Maple, a girl from our Maplewood colony, due to a growth on her back. After removal, our vet determined it was more “wart” than a cancer risk, and didn’t require a biopsy. Good news for this beauty. ❤️
Honkers, a compassionate boarder, needed sedation to check on his teeth, as we’ve noticed wet, matted fur around his mouth. While sedated, he had his molar spurs filed, as well as a nodule removed from behind one leg.
Sabrina, our Bunny Cafe darling, bonked her face pretty hard - hard enough to get a bloody snout and wiggly front teeth. For now, she’s eating well, but we’re continuing to monitor. The loose teeth are concerning, to say the least.
The need is clear - for all of these bunnies and beyond. Every donation is life-saving. Rabbitats.org/donate or www.paypal.com/ca/fundraiser/charity/3764772

Thank you to the Bunny Cafe, Dr. Boo, and coordinator Chelsea for making our February RHDV clinic possible.🫶🫶
Together, we vaccinated 69 bunnies, protecting them from a highly contagious and deadly virus. While absolutely necessary, vaccinating our own bunnies has become a costly venture since Ceva discontinued distribution of Filivac's 50-dose vials (donations appreciated! Rabbitats.org/donate).
These clinics keep rescue and community rabbits safe while offering an affordable vaccine option. Join the waiting list for our next clinic at Rabbitats.org/vaccine. Spots fill so fast we rarely get to advertise!

We’re getting some tax receipt queries. Inquiring minds, here’s your guide!
🐰If you e-transferred a donation over $20 and didn’t receive a tax receipt, please email the name the donation was made under, the date, donation amount, and your full mailing address to donate@rabbitats.org. We’ll get it right out to you in an email!
🩵Donations through our website go through PetFundr/FundRazr. If you've made contributions, you will have received one receipt with all contributions in mid-January. If you do not have your receipt, please check your spam folder first, then email support@petfundr.com with your full contact and donation details.
🫶Donations made through PayPal Giving, either directly or through the Meta donation buttons, also have receipts issued automatically. You are donating to Facebook/PayPal Giving, and they, in turn, donate to us (almost fee-free). We don’t have any control over these receipts.
🪻If you need receipts for in-kind or other donations, again, please email donate@rabbitats.org with the details (when/why/where/how much) and your full mailing address; we’re all volunteers, so please be patient!
