RIP Karen Kelly. Heaven has gained quite the angel. Karen would come all the way from Victoria to volunteer at our events and transport or foster rabbits, all on her own dime. She and Ann Ricia, our incredibly supportive Victoria contingent would travel together delivering a car full of awesome things for our online auctions. Karen was diagnosed with cancer, but told us it was going to be okay. We knew it wasn’t when a friend brought Squidge, a tiny lionhead she was fostering, back to us last week. Karen helped out so many animals in her too-short life, her loss is devastating for them and for us. She was a beautiful soul, inside and out.

We received reports a couple of days ago of a badly injured rabbit in the Richmond area. The SPCA was unsuccessful in grabbing her, so we sent a couple of our own volunteers to try.
After walking the area, they were able to identify a bush in the back of the report photo. From there, a volunteer crawled into the bush and was able to grab the bunny (thank you, Alison and Emma).
The poor girl was extremely wet and dirty. She kept falling over into mud puddles, unable to keep herself upright.
Deanna fixed her up at our shelter, giving her a bath and blow dry to improve her comfort. She is eating like a champion.
She's still in bad shape and needs thorough diagnostics to treat her injuries, but our sick bunny fund is hurting. Fundraising will help determine the lengths we can go to help.
Of course, she may also be pregnant, as there are plenty of feral rabbits in the area. That opens up a whole new can of worms…
We’re calling her Maple Lane because she was found near the elementary school (and she’s darn sweet). Please help us in any way you can. Even if you have nothing to spare, please share her story.

Adoptable Bun Alert - Meet Eggs Benedict (the vegan kind, of course) 🥰💛
Eggs was found as a dumped house pet, picked up by one of our dedicated foster partners. And while he joined the Meet n' Treat troop for a bit, he was kind of the odd duck out.
Now, he's ready for his new career as a full time house bunny. 🐰
As a dumped pet, we're not sure of Eggs' age (2-3). He's a lop mix with a lovely dense coat that requires regular maintenance.
When you first meet Eggs, he appears calm and perhaps a little wary of you. But when he get's going outside, he's full of beans! He loves to zoomy and dig in the grass (note the dirt on his face).
As a retired colony bun, Eggs hasn't been too accepting of bun-friends in his past speed dates. Still, we'd love for him to one day meet his perfect match. 🩷
If you'd like to meet Eggs Benedict, fill out a questionnaire at rabbitats.org/adopt

UPDATE 2: We got the bunny.
UPDATE: The SPCA is trying to get the bunny now. <3
Can anybody in Richmond, BC, check out a report of an injured rabbit? One was reported behind Maple Lane Elementary School, 7671 Alouette Dr, "outside the townhouse fence". Our Richmond vet is closed today, so we're not sure what we can do, but we need to know if the bunny is still there. The BCSPCA has also been called.
