Muffin

Incoming! We were put to WORK with two new rescues… while the third was surprisingly easy.

We got word from an adopter about a chinchilla girl loose in Burnaby. She had a huge dewlap and rolls, which likely means she had recently been under human care. She was hiding under cars around a house that had just sold a few days earlier...

While in obvious need, she didn't make it easy.

Keely went out first, kept eyes on the bunny, and waited for backup. By the time Deanna arrived, the bunny had slipped away. They left x-pens around one of her usual hangouts, hoping she'd return and the reporters could close the pens.

The next morning, Deanna, our OG trapper, and Brittney, our latest trapping aficionado, headed back to finish the job.

They watched her run an entire block when, out of nowhere, an electric car zoomed by and nicked her. Just awful. 💔 Biggest nightmare while trapping.

After quite the chase, Brittney finally managed to grab her. We're calling her Sha'carri after the Olympic track and field champion. 🏃⚡️

Once caught, we were off to Petsville for an exam. Poor girl was so nervous that she required sedation for the exam. Sha'carri had no obvious injuries, but we did x-rays to be sure. By some miracle, she escaped with a couple of scrapes.

A few days later, we were back at it, trying to catch a chocolate brown baby in a parkade.

Keely, Kate, Greg, and Sorelle headed out. After a lot of effort (mostly Keely crawling through bushes, sliding under cars, and trying to poke the baby out of a hubcap), we got him! He's one of the smallest babies we've rescued yet.

Scratched and winded, the team was all ready to trap this wee harlequin from Riley Park in Mount Pleasant. Brittney was already in her Uber when we got an email from a kind neighbor: some neighborhood boys had caught the bunny!

We're calling her Barbie. 👸
