Two rescues over the last few days, one worked out and one didn't. First little 'Marine', probably six weeks old, was spotted on P3 of the huge Marine Gateway parkade in Vancouver. It came as a shock to hear the grey baby had been there at least two weeks. The poor thing was skin and bones! Marine is doing great, eating and drinking to make up for lost time. (Thanks to Sammy Law for the save). ❤️ Then it took a few days to get access to catch a young injured juvenile in Richmond. Deanna took the bunny in to Petsville for emergency pain meds and xrays which sadly showed a badly broken upper leg. We were making arrangements for surgery when the bunny passed away. 😢 Donations are always needed for these cases. Baby Keara is fighting for her life.
One of our adopters alerted us to a struggling baby in Richmond. There are many bunnies in the area… but something was very wrong with this little babe.
They were dragging one foot behind them as they took shelter in a bush. Their finder was able to scoop them up and bring them to us.
We immediately placed the baby with foster Jen, where they’ve been fighting for their life for the past three weeks.
After 6 vet visits, what first appeared to be a leg injury turned out to be multiple painful abscesses and a serious infection. The abscesses have required repeated flushing, antibiotics, and treatment, while also manually expressing their bladder.
Most recently, they urinated on their own for the first time since arriving, and their previously “paralyzed” leg is beginning to move again as the swelling goes down. Jen is feeding them all of the treats and greens they could want.
They had their 6th checkup last week, and we’re cautiously hopeful... they've been such a fighter.
