Welcome to our world. Although we have the province of BC claiming the rabbits ARE wildlife so we’re trying to convince them their claim comes with responsibility. But it’s been tough. The ongoing game called ‘Punt the Bunnies’. https://www.seattletimes.com/…/cannon-beach-no-one-has-res…/

New Arrivals!! - We were alerted of a young harlequin rabbit on No.3 road who was stumbling and falling over with a tilted head. Fearing EC, our trapping team was called to the scene.
After a night of attempted trapping, the bunny moved to a locked storage area we couldn’t access. And just as we were about to call it for the evening… another young harlequin came hopping across the parking lot.
We quickly threw down a bit of apple, stretched out the x pen, and snagged the little bun. It was all a little too easy… it turns out this 3-month-old bunny had his own health issues. Tooth grinding and slitted eyes (both pain indicators).
His feet and tummy were covered in nasty black tar, and he may have ingested some trying to clean it off. He had a bad gassy tummy.
After Metacam, gas drops, and an evening of gentle tummy massages, he was doing much better. He rested his little cheek on Deanna’s jaw and gave her tooth purrs and kisses as a thank you. A grateful little boy. 🥹💞
A couple of days later, we were able to rescue his tilty sister. Both are safe and sound at the shelter, and absolutely adorable.

Happy Tail Tuesday - Max has made himself right at home with his permanent foster parents. 🐰🩵In rare occasions, we offer permanent foster placements for senior bunnies and those with high medical needs (If you’re interested, reach out at rabbitats.org/foster).
Here’s what Max’s foster mum had to say:
“After seeing Max’s story on the Rabbitats Instagram, my husband and I decided to welcome him into our home. Max was a little unsure at first, chewing on his pen and not wanting to interact with us very much. But as time went on, he was able to settle in, get more comfortable, and establish his routines.
First thing each morning, Max likes to go on patrol, making sure that every room is the same as it was the night before, checking on all of his favourite hiding spots.
After breakfast, he spends most of the day napping while listening in on my work calls, and will occasionally nudge me if he feels the need to inspect my footrest while I’m trying to wrap up a meeting.
After work, he likes to move to the living room to play with his straw ball and stacking cups, and to relax some more before dinner. When it’s time for bed, he enjoys a few treats before we tuck him in and say good night.
It has been fun to have Max around and to have a fuzzy co-worker by our sides when either of us is working from home. While he’s never been interested enough to jump up on our couch, he likes to run up and down the hallway at speed, will do mini-binkies when he’s happy or flop over for workday naps.
As he’s quite the nibbler (we’ve actually nicknamed him The Nibbler, a kind of bunny anti-hero), we can’t trust him to not get into trouble if left unattended. He likes to lick everything; it is likely that there is bunny spit on most of the walls, our carpet, all of his toys and the undersides of our tables, too. He’s very sweet and we enjoy having him live with us! We hope he’s having fun.”
