Our Riley has left this world. 💔
He was a miracle from the beginning, surviving after he was run over by a car and left helpless in the street. A witness, human Riley, brought him to us. He was loved from that moment on.
We aim to love every bunny the same, but the bunnies certainly choose their favorites. Grumpy bunnies will give purrs to their favorite volunteer. A generally friendly bunny could nip a volunteer they’re unsure of. Riley was sweet with all, but found his person in Deanna.
Feedings, snuggles, and understanding. For the past 5 months, Deanna has been his mommy. She helped him graduate from syringe feeding to bowls of her magical Critical Care, and even to solid foods. He was making strides, enjoying his crunchies, and gaining weight.
We wanted to give this little boy every chance; multiple X-rays, surgeries, and medications. We had donors reach out specifically to help him. ❤ But in the end, it wasn’t enough.
His jaw was too badly damaged, it wouldn’t heal, and was prone to infection – the last one so severe, it was disintegrating the jawbone. Our vet put him under anesthesia for another set of X-rays and concluded that he had no chance of recovery. After a hard-fought battle, they let him remain asleep.
We weren’t ready for him to go, but we knew it was time. His passing was gentle, and he’s no longer in pain. We love you Riley.

Incoming... Again...
This is not a bunny we expected to take, but we're glad we did. She was following a friend of a friend around Steveston and he was able to just pick her up and take her inside. We normally don't take Richmond ferals, but she seemed so happy to be in a home on a couch, she melted our hearts. She is really scruffy, it looks like she pulled hair and gave birth in the past (not currently lactating thankfully), she's coated with pee stains from being sprayed and she seems to have injuries on both eyes. She went straight to a vet for an exam, but she'll need further assessments. Our donations are so far down, we're going to have to put up another fundraiser to be able to help her further. If the donate button doesn't work, try paypal.com/ca/fundraiser/charity/3764772 or rabbitats.org/donate . This poor girl will be so grateful. <3
