When we moved to our Richmond Sanctuary in 2018, we dreamed of creating a safe space for both bunnies and bunny lovers. We got the bunny part down pretty quickly, but creating a space for our human community has taken a little more time.
We’ve faced some major obstacles along the way: Covid baby bunny booms, post-Covid dumps, the closing of our South Surrey Sanctuary, a Granville Island rescue project, and taking back a colony (and then some) from harassed and overwhelmed fosters. The bunnies have to come first, but we’ve never forgotten about the people we hoped to help, too.
Now, we’re able to welcome folks from all over to enjoy this space that we love so much. And volunteers are always welcome, even when the daily chores are done.
This summer, we’ve been privileged to host more work parties than ever, from corporate events to our most recent “Meatless Meet-up.” This event felt like a culmination of everything we’ve been working toward for the past eight years.
Thank you to everyone who came by, worked hard, and enjoyed the vegan spread with us. We’re so happy to finally be sharing this space with the community.

UPDATE: Bunny is a girl. Dr. Rana has amputated the leg and we're hoping for the best. Apex Animal Hospital
INCOMING ‼. Shit. Massive trigger warning for animal injury. A Rabbitats adopter wrangled this bunny away from someone downtown last night; the bunny is not ok. Thankfully the now-former guardian agreed to give the rabbit to our adopter because of the rabbit's “busted leg.”
The leg isn’t just hurt - it snapped in half. The bone is exposed and the tissue is necrotic. When we picked him/her up this morning, the smell filled the car. S/he has been suffering for god knows how long, eating through the pain, and dragging the ruined leg. (The original report thought that both legs had been broken, but it's just one).
This young rabbit is going into surgery right now. We were honestly expecting our vet to recommend euthanasia, but Dr Rana wants to try to amputate and save his/her life.
This is a baby, just a few months old, hasn’t even grown into his ears, and has already been failed.
If s/he makes it through this, we will not fail him or her again.
Please help us pay for this costly and hopefully life saving surgery. Our little Pochita. 💔

We got her! This elusive agouti has been traipsing around the Auto Mall for weeks. She’s quick, clever, and the reason for several late-night stakeouts. She’d happily come right up to sniff Deanna, then dart away.
Yesterday morning, Deanna called Peter the Hot Dog Guy to see if she was in the trap... and she was! Honestly, we think she was finally done toying with us and ready for her next adventure - flat on her belly and ready to go.
Off to sanctuary where she can join some pals (after her spay, of course). Thanks, Peter, and everyone who came out to catch this canny bun.
