The super friendly big boy was dumped out of a car in Surrey along with a black bunny who hasn’t been seen since. A kind person was able to pick this one up but sadly she can’t keep him. We are now looking for a foster home for him.

Was it you who dumped this poor rabbit in Hawthorne Park? He didn’t make it. 💔 A kind soul picked him up a few days ago, he was showing mild signs of illness (hind end weakness) and then got very sick last night. In spite of Rabbitats’ best efforts Ubering him to an ER vet, he passed away. 😢 The suspected cause, given that you dumped him in a forest, is Baylisascaris procyonis, aka raccoon roundworm, one of several parasites he probably picked up in that environment. He was a very sweet bunny. He didn’t deserve this. What were you thinking? :(

Incoming! A small baby spotted downtown in the West End yesterday.
Usually, when a bunny is under a car, we can contain them by surrounding the car with x-pens. Unfortunately.. this bunny reallllllly didn’t want to be caught, and kept crawling into undercarriages to stay safe (one guess as to how he ended up here 😅).
Many hours of patiently waiting, second guessing the car in question, and some welcome backup brought this bunny to safety.
He’s currently staying with Sorelle, where he continues to find the smallest corners possible to settle into. A bunny longing for his burrow. 🐰
Baby season continues to push us! We brought in a second baby the same morning, found alone on the side of the road in Richmond. Ken from Cozy Carrots kindly zoomed him to baby foster Jen’s, where he’s now snuggled up with Sungiven. 🤍

We're desperate for medical fosters, and Sesame and Tiramisu are the most in need.
Sesame (black) and Tiramisu (harlequin) are a six 1/2-year-old bonded pair. They've been in the family for over 6 years, originally rescued from under some shipping containers on Minoru Boulevard.
Sesame is struggling with a terrible respiratory infection, and he needs a place to recover. A shelter full of hay dust is no place for him, our recovery room metal cages are a stressful environment, and our vet room is tied up with incoming quarantines. This infection has been antibiotic-resistant, and he needs a medical foster to give him a new full course.
Tiramisu has fewer medical concerns. Beyond watery eyes, she is stable. Changing living quarters can cause stress to rabbits, which may bring new or developing health issues to our attention.
What does it look like to medical foster?
- Must be comfortable administering daily oral medication/ are ready to learn.
- Short minimum foster periods. Even a few weeks could be hugely beneficial to this pair.
- Vet bills are 100% covered by the rescue. Appointments are scheduled by the Rabbitats team, and transport support is available to and from appointments.
