Richmond’s Rabbits: A Photo Contest
There are an estimated 2,000 feral domestic rabbits living outside in Richmond, from yards to parks to medians to hedgerows. They don’t belong out there. Your photo and report will help us determine where the rabbits are located, their survival rates, how they’re spreading, and other pertinent information that can help with domestic rabbit rescue, control, and management.

Why Hold This Contest?
We need your help to track these feral populations, show the need for intervention, and trap those in immediate danger. We’re holding a photo contest to encourage others to use this tool and spread information on the abandoned and unwanted rabbit crisis.
How Can I Enter the Photo Contest?
When you spot a domestic rabbit, take a photograph!
- Report the sighting to Abandonedrabbits.com with as much information as possible. Our volunteers monitor these sightings daily, and dispatch trapping support for those who need it most.
- Mention “photo contest” in the notes to enter the contest.
- The winner will be chosen by a committee, and receive a Meet n’ Treat party with real bunnies as their prize.
- Get a special mention! We’ll also recognize standout photos for the Most Rabbits in One Frame, Cutest Rabbit, and Best Comedy Shot on our social media.
Understanding Richmond’s Feral Rabbits
Is This Rabbit Wild, Feral, Or Recently Dumped?
Unless the rabbit is an Eastern Cottontail, the rabbit you found is likely a domestic breed. Differentiating between feral domestic and recently dumped rabbits can be more difficult, though it is possible.
Please report all sightings of domestic rabbits to Abandonedrabbits.com.

By submitting a photograph, you confirm that you took the photograph yourself or otherwise have the right and permission to submit it to Rabbitats.

If the winner chooses a private residence, Rabbitats has final say as to whether the location is suitable and safe for the rabbits, volunteers, and guests. Rabbitats may require the Meet n’ Treat to take place at the sanctuary instead.
The Meet n’ Treat location must be within a one-hour travel radius of Richmond, BC.
8. Scheduling
The Meet n’ Treat will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time based on the availability of the Rabbitats Meet n’ Treat team and the winner.

The winner will be publicly announced after the winner has confirmed acceptance of the prize. Rabbitats intends to announce the winner within 48 hours of the initial contact.
If the selected winner does not respond within 48 hours, or declines the prize, the prize will be offered to the next-highest-ranked eligible entry, and so on until the prize is accepted. Any replacement winner will be announced after confirming acceptance of the prize.
10. Use of Submitted Photographs
By submitting a photograph, you grant Rabbitats permission to use the photograph for purposes related to the contest, including announcing the winner and promoting, advertising, or educating the public about Rabbitats and the abandoned rabbit crisis.

12. Changes to the Contest
Rabbitats reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the contest if circumstances beyond its reasonable control make it necessary to do so.
By entering the contest, participants agree to these rules and regulations.
