URGENT: Fundraiser for RHDV2 Vaccine!

By | Donate, Fundraiser, News, Sick Bunny | One Comment

RHDV2 killed thousands of rabbits last year and it’s still lurking in the environment.  We vaccinated close to 400 rabbits and they all need booster shots this year and we’re expecting to house another 400 rabbits or more in our new sanctuary.  We need to order at least that amount of vaccine or more now as there will only be one order this year and the deadline is APRIL 15th!  Even using bulk packs of vaccine, this is going to be an expensive proposition.  Vaccinating the rabbits is crucial.  Please donate to this cause! Please help! RHDV Fund

Easter Bunny Bunanza!

The Easter Bunny Bunanza, presented by Rabbitats and Vancouver Rabbit Rescue and Advocacy and featuring the Vancouver Rabbit Agility Club, will be a mega-celebration of all things bunny!

Vancouver, BC  (April 8, 2019) — Vancouver’s largest rabbit rescue and education societies are joining forces on Easter Sunday to present a rabbit experience for both dedicated and casual fans of the furry little critters.

The ‘Easter Bunny Bunanza’ will feature a ‘Rabbit Agility’ demonstration (courtesy of the Vancouver Rabbit Agility Club), the VRRA’s  ‘Hoppy Hour’ for guardians to bring their own bunnies to socialize with other rabbits, and Rabbitats’ signature ‘Meet n’ Treat’ allowing people to feed healthy treats to the many willing bunny participants.

Bunny-themed crafts and treats will also be on hand along with a lot of information.  Rabbits are smart, sociable little beings who make awesome pets.  Potential guardians should be aware of the commitment involved when adopting one.

Those wanting to enjoy rabbits without taking on that commitment are welcome to attend the Easter Bunny Bunanza for their bunny fix!

WHAT:  Easter Bunny Bunanza

WHEN:  Easter Sunday, April 21st, 2019, 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm

WHERE:  Ukrainian Hall, 805 East Pender Street, Vancouver, BC

Vlad Update

By | News, Sick Bunny | No Comments

Vlad waiting pensively at Apex for the re-check on his jaw abscess with osteomyelitis… it’s good news! Healing is on track, he’ll finish his course of Azithromycin, we’ll keep the wound clean, and hope that this kicks it once and for all.

He’s been on supplemental Critical Care since we took him in a couple years ago (after his first jaw abscess), but he’s getting more right now to get his weight up. He has a huge appetite, eats everything we give him, and eats his Critical Care right out of the bowl. 🙂

Volunteers Needed!

By | News, Volunteers | 2 Comments

Rabbitats in Richmond BC, is looking for volunteers who can help build and landscape our sanctuary. We need skilled and unskilled people who don’t mind getting lots of fresh air and exercise (with a little bunny love in between).
We’ll be doing groundwork, building fences, bunny houses and sheds and eventually planting a garden.
We’re also looking for some donated tools and supplies for our rabbit sanctuary.
We’re in immediate need of some pegboard, but also the following tools:
– long handled axe
– sledgehammer
– heavy duty prybar
– angle grinder
– Milwaukee saw blades
If you can help, please post, contact us at info@rabbitats.org or message us!

Home Needed for Male Mini Lop

By | Adopt, News | No Comments

This mini lop was found in an alley at East 45th and Gladstone in Vancouver in the snow this morning. He appears to be a neutered male. We’re hoping that he is a much loved lost rabbit and wasn’t just dumped there. Animal control in Vancouver is apparently still not taking rabbits even if they’re strays.  The poor family that picked him up from the alley had a dog that wanted to eat him and couldn’t keep him. They fell in love with him even in the short time he was with them and couldn’t just put him back where they found him. We are totally full, we took him for the night but we can’t keep him either. He is a very sweet bunny!
