This is the little baby fished out from under a car in a really busy shopping mall parkade in Burnaby. The baby likely survived fast ride to the mall in the under carriage and dodged all the cars when s/he hopped out. 😲 😓 🥵 😵
This is Gizmo and her 5 kids. They came to us after they were found out in a no-pets building. They were caught when one of the babies ended up in a sealed garbage bag in the dumpster after being accidentally thrown out with a blanket. Luckily the little tyke was found by somebody looking for bottles and cans . Other trash in the bag lead them to the right address. The trash baby was adopted out and the rest of the bunny family was evicted and came to us. They’re currently being housed on a foster porch until we can figure out the next step. They’re cute as buttons but it’s raining rabbits!
We have wonderful news about Suzie, the big harlequin lop girl who recently lost her girlfriend Midnight. 🌈 They were both surrendered to Rabbitats in January.
Suzie has found an amazing new home and family, with five younger bunny siblings! 😁 She is the newest member of the Mythic Fluffle, and her new name is Melusine, or Lizzy for short. Her 5 new younger siblings love her already, with lots of grooming and snuggles. ♥️
James Wilson and his rabbit, Oreo, took in some local sights on Saturday before arriving to do a Bunny Spa for us, along with another dedicated volunteer, Iris Klimczuk. Together, they trimmed nails on 72 rabbits in a couple hours, finishing in time for the RHD vaccination clinic.
We are very thankful to the wonderful Joseph Martinez, DVM, for vaccinating 40 of our shelter rabbits. He was assisted by able vet assistant Nathalie; new volunteer and soon-to-be adopter, Terrence (wrangler); Iris (scribe); James (wrangler); and Deanna, who oversaw the whole operation. Truly a great team effort!
Afterwards, the shelter bunnies enjoyed tearing into a treat bag brought by James!
Our five adorable little babies born March 2nd. ❤️ They really are small compared to our other two litters (born Feb 22 & March 27), but their mom is a wee dwarf-cross grey feral girl, whereas the moms of the other litters are larger dumped house bunnies.
RHDV2 killed thousands of rabbits last year and it’s still lurking in the environment. We vaccinated close to 400 rabbits and they all need booster shots this year and we’re expecting to house another 400 rabbits or more in our new sanctuary. We need to order at least that amount of vaccine or more now as there will only be one order this year and the deadline is APRIL 15th! Even using bulk packs of vaccine, this is going to be an expensive proposition. Vaccinating the rabbits is crucial. Please donate to this cause! Please help! RHDV Fund
Rabbitats is a volunteer-run organization that survives off the donations of wonderful people like you. Every cent we receive goes towards rescuing feral and abandoned rabbits: paying for veterinary care, finding good homes, and building sanctuaries.
